Goldfish are many things; fun to watch, exceptionally easy to take care of, and, of course, the most common of all pets. The common goldfish is every kid's dream pet. They love to help set up their goldfish bowl and will spend hours sitting and watching their tiny little friend swimming around in small circles. While the common goldfish is a pet lovers dream, it is rather difficult to train them to do anything. But then, why would you want to train a goldfish, anyway? No matter what kind of pet you would like to have, a common goldfish is the perfect first pet for just about anyone, allowing you to keep your busy social life while still having a pet to take care of at home when you have your down time.

If you have ever wanted to see your child's eyes light up in a way that no present could ever manage, get them a common goldfish. Once they see that tiny little fish in the bag of water, they will instantly fall in love with it. Of course, you will have to keep an eye on the feeding as children will want to feed it much more than a common goldfish can handle, with the thought that by feeding it more the poor fish will grow bigger. But with that being the only issue, having a pet goldfish is the best way to teach responsibility to your loving child.
Once you get your common goldfish home and your child has done everything they can to help you put the goldfish bowl together, usually causing more of a mess than is absolutely needed, you can sit back and watch as your child stares in wonder and awe over the common goldfish doing its normal thing in the small bowl. You can remember times in your past when you were staring in awe at your own common goldfish and relive the moments you had when you were a child. This will give you a peace of mind that you have never had before.
